　　However,inthereligiousworldoramongthesuperstitiouspeople,thebeliefinafterlifeisverypopular.Theydonotonlybelieveinafterlife,butthousandsofreincarnationsaswell.Inthemysteriousworld,therearetheparadiseandthehell,thecelestialbeingsandthegods,theBuddhaandtheBodhisattvas. 　
　　Maybetheyreallybelievedit,ormaybetheyjustwantedtomakeuseofpeople’sveneration,theancientemperorsalwaysdeclaredthattheyweretherealdragons,thesonsofGod,whiletheroyalministersclaimedtobethereincarnationsofvariousconstellations.Butcanthestarsreincarnate? 　
　　Manypeopleburnincenseandkowtow,dogooddeedsandstriveforvirtues,notjustforthepresent,butmainlytoletGodseetheirsinceritysoastoberebornintoabetterafterlife,ortoachievethehighestenlightenmentafterseverallivesofpractice.Theydobelieveinafterlife.ButIcan’thelpasking:Supposetherewerenoafterlife,wouldyoustilldogooddeedsandstriveforvirtues?AndIfGoddoesnotseewhatyouaredoing,wouldyoustillbesouprightandselfless?Ifyouwork,notforservingthepublicandliberatingtheothers,butjustforabetterafterlifeofyourown,isn’titalittletooselfish?Comparingwiththiskindofbelievers,thosewhodon’tbelieveinafterlife,butstillkeepdoinggooddeeds,arethemostsincereandhonestphilanthropists,becausetheydothemnotforthemselvesbutforother.
