throughoutworldhistory,nocountryhasremainedrichforever.countriesgothroughacyclewheretheyarepoor,growproerousandpowerful,thenstarttodecline.

wehavebecomerichinonegeneration-amiracleperha-buttooquicklyandhencenotdeep-rootedenough.willwedeclineinthenextgeneration?mycolleaguesandiaredeterminedthatwewillnot.butweneedthiscoreofsingaporeawhofeelpaionatelyaboutourcountry.weneedyoursuort.inthisclimbupthemountainofeconomicdevelopment,wewillequipyoutotacklethenextotacleandtotryforthesummit.butweneedalsotopullourslowercolleaguesalong,sothattheytoocangohigher.
