Thousandsoflivesweresuddenlyendedbyevil,deicableactsofterror.

Thepicturesofairplanesflyingintobuildings,firesburning,hugestructurescollaing,havefilleduswithdielief,terriblesadneandaquiet,unyieldinganger.

Theseactsofmamurderwereintendedtofrightenournationintochaosandretreat.Buttheyhavefailed.Ourcountryisstrong.Agreatpeoplehasbeenmovedtodefendagreatnation.

Terroristattackscanshakethefoundatioofourbiggestbuildings,buttheycaottouchthefoundationofAmerica.Theseactsshattersteel,buttheycaotdentthesteelofAmericanresolve.

Americawastargetedforattackbecausewe’rethebrightestbeaconforfreedomandoortunityintheworld.Andnoonewillkeepthatlightfromshining.

Today,ournationsawevil,theveryworstofhumannature,andwereondedwiththebestofAmerica,withthedaringofourrescueworkers,withthecaringforstrangersandneighborswhocametogivebloodandhelpinanywaytheycould.

Immediatelyfollowingthefirstattack,Iimplementedourgovernment’semergencyreoepla.Ourmilitaryispowerful,andit’sprepared.OuremergencyteamsareworkinginNewYorkCityandWashington,D.C.,tohelpwithlocalrescueefforts.

Ourfirstpriorityistogethelptothosewhohavebeeninjuredandtotakeeveryprecautiontoprotectourcitizeathomeandaroundtheworldfromfurtherattacks.

Thefunctioofourgovernmentcontinuewithoutinterruption.FederalagenciesinWashington,whichhadtobeevacuatedtoday,arereopeningforeentialpersoeltonightandwillbeopenforbusinetomorrow.

Ourfinancialititutioremainstrong,andtheAmericaneconomywillbeopenforbusineaswell.
