　　Goodevening!Iamverydelightedtobewithyouheretojoinintheopeningceremonyofthe2005FORTUNEGlobalForuminBeijingonthisbeautifulevening.Tobeginwith,I'dliketo,onbehalfoftheChinesegovernment,andalsoinmypersonalname,toexpremysincerewelcometoallofyou,andcongratulatiototheforumoor,TimeWarnerInc.!Theforum,themed"ChinaandtheNewAsianCentury",showthegreatconcernovertheproectsofdevelopmentofChinaandAsia,andtherolesofChinaandAsiaintheglobaleconomy.Italsoindicatesthatwithsurgingeconomicglobalization,ChinaandAsiaarequicklybecominganewgrowthenginefortheworldwhiletheglobalboomisalsogeneratingmoreimportantoortunitiesforChinaandAsia.Continuedmutually-beneficialeconomiccooperationandrisinginterdependenceamongtheworld'scountrieswillusherinanevenbetterfutureforglobaleconomyindevelopment.

LadiesandGentlemen,Chinaisanancientcivilizationwithahistorydatingbackover5,000years.TheChinesepeoplehavemadeamajorcontributiontohumanprogrebycreatingthelendidChinesecivilizationwithhardworkandingenuity.ThecityofBeijing,withitslonghistoryofover3,000years,standstestimonytothateffort.Itbecamethenation'scapitalover800yearsago.AshortdistancefromtheGreatHallofthePeople,whereweareinrightnow,istheworld-renownedForbiddenCity.Firstbuiltsome600yearsago,theformerImperialPalaceisthelargestandmostcompleteexistingeembleofancientroyalarchitectureintheworld.FromBeijing'stime-honoredpastandthemajesticForbiddenCityitself,peoplecanlearnvividlytheoriginality,greatneandprofoundrichneoftheChinesecivilizationandfeelforthemselvesthevigor,resilienceandpioneeringiritoftheChinesenation.Begiinginthemid-19thcentury,Chinawasreducedtodiremiseryasthecountrysufferedonehumiliatingdefeatafteranotherandthepeoplelanguishedinpovertyandstarvationasaresultofbrutalforeignaggreioandcorruptandincompetentfeudalrulers.Refusingtosubmittoafateofagonyandwoe,theChinesepeoplefoughtbackpersistentlya
