the 11th China International Education Exhibition Tour with Education UK. The UK is making a major contribution to this international event, with over seventy UK education institutions visiting a total of four Chinese cities.
The UK is a very welcoming destination for international students from all continents and has become an increasingly popular choice for Chinese students in recent years. The UK possesses high quality qualifications which provide Chinese students with promising employment opportunities in China. There were also a number of schemes launched recently which will offer additional 1 or 2 years to International students to work in the UK when their studies are completed. We encourage students to make well-informed choices about their institution, subject of study and course, which will help them achieve their long-term goals and contribute to China's development after they return. These exhibitions will enable the Chinese public to talk directly to institutional representatives and gain accurate information to support their choices.
At the same time, education exhibitions help UK education institutions to understand China better and find new partners here. The UK Government strongly supports the deepening of academic relations with China and, through programmes such as Chevening Scholarships, Scottish International Scholarships; we encourage key personnel from China to develop their skills and knowledge through a period of further study in the UK.
I am confident that the 11th China International Education Exhibition Tour with Education UK will make a significant contribution to what is already a central element of Sino-British relations - education - and I wish the exhibitions every success.
